Is there a way to apply for Section 8 rental assistance and complete a Food Stamp application at the same time?
No. The Food Stamp and Section 8 housing assistance programs are run by entirely different agencies. The United States Department of Agriculture, the USDA, also known as the Agriculture Department, is the U.S. federal executive department responsible for developing and executing federal laws related to farming, agriculture, forestry, and food. It also aims to meet the needs of farmers and ranchers, promote agricultural trade and production, work to assure food safety, protect natural resources, foster rural communities and end hunger in the United States and internationally. When someone fills out a Food Stamp application, they have the USDA to thank for those benefits.
The Section 8 rental assistance program is run by housing authorities but funded by HUD. When an applicant wants to apply for Section 8 online or in person, they must also understand that a rental assistance program, although government subsidized, is not considered to be applying for benefits or completing a Food Stamp application. Furthermore, in order to apply for benefits, you must make sure that you qualify.
