How can I get a Section 8 application online?
An application can be obtained when Section 8 applications are being accepted by your local housing authority. In order for this to happen, there has to be an open Section 8 waiting list. Housing authorities usually post their Section 8 application online now to avoid an overwhelming turn out and long lines. The application process is always free.
What is Section 8?
The actual name of the program commonly known as “Section 8” is the Housing Choice Voucher Program. It is a federally funded program that subsidizes rents for eligible participants who rent units in the private market. It is designed to assist very low-income families, the elderly and the disabled to rent decent, safe and sanitary housing. A housing subsidy is paid directly to the landlord on behalf of a participating family. It can however take years to get on a Section 8 waiting list, as most housing authorities have to keep their waiting lists closed due to the high demand for Section 8 housing assistance.
Do I qualify for Section 8 housing?
Eligibility is based on total annual gross income and family size. Also, it is limited to U. S. citizens and specified categories of non-citizens who have eligible immigration status. The income guidelines issued by HUD are to determine eligible status before someone completes a Section 8 application online or in person.
How do I check my Section 8 status?
After you have found a housing authority that is accepting Section 8 applications and complete a Section 8 application online, you should be able to check your status online. Most housing authority websites allow applicants to check their status by an assigned number or their social security number. Remember, a Section 8 application is always free and can only be submitted through housing authorities, which are funded by HUD.

Can I apply for SNAP (Food Stamps) online?
The Food Stamp program is now called SNAP and is run by the USDA which is a government entity entirely different from HUD. In order to become eligible to apply for Food Stamps in Phoenix Arizona or anywhere in the United States, you will need to complete a Food Stamp (SNAP) application for the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program. You can usually obtain a copy of the Food Stamps application from any Social Security office, or you can search for an online application on your local government website. Some states allow you to apply for Food Stamps online, or you can print out the application and turn in the completed form to your Social Security office.

A HUD application (Section 8 housing application), is really for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program.
